Resident Doctor

Examines all new patients, check past medical records and mention allergy, chief complaints relevant history, systemic examination findings, current medication, provisional diagnosis, final diagnosis, surgery done(if any), notes ,plan of care (in coordination with the consultant) in the progress sheet.
Informs the respective consultant about the admission and follow his orders.
Writes medication orders in the in progress notes and MAR (Medication Administration Record) with start date and time as well as omit date and time.
Instruct the nursing staff about the necessary orders to be carried out.
Takes relevant consents from the patient as and when required.
Follows up on the investigations ordered, note down the results in the investigation sheet and inform the consultant.
If the patient is posted for the surgery, to inform to the anesthetist and the surgeon.
Mentions pre-operative orders in the Progress notes.
Mentions the post-Operative plan of care in the progress notes by surgeons
Assess the patients for transfer in to or transfer out of ICU or ward, if applicable by consultant
Attends to patients complaints and keep the consultant informed about the clinical condition of the patient
Coordinates with the consultants for discharge.
Prepares & verify the discharge summary, explain the advice on discharge to the patient.
Conducts patient round independently and with respective consultant.
While admitting a patient, the record should be kept in the admission desk as well as in the emergency.
Counsels patient attendants on patient’s condition and steps to be taken.
