This role will mean becoming part of a global multi-disciplined mainframe development team (develop, test, document) and will involve learning about our mainframe products.
- All team members are expected to do L3 code maintenance, work with L2, develop new features and support currency with other IBM products as they become available on the mainframe (eg DB2, IMS, C, PL/I, COBOL, Java, etc).
- All code submitted is reviewed and you will be expected to play your role as a reviewer and reviewee.
- As a developer, you will work with an independent test team, but you must also develop your own unit tests as well as review test cases and results from the test team.
- Our mainframe products have client components that work on Windows/Linux under eclipse. You will be expected to work with the client development team to expose host-side features on the client side.

**Experience and Skills**:

- Minimum 10+ years of **Mainframe System Programmer** experience.
- Fluent English speaker/writer.
- You are willing to embrace unfamiliar technology, tools, processes and learn new skills.
- You are THOROUGHLY familiar with the mainframe, its various sub-systems, features etc (VTAM, TSO, z/OS, ISPF, CICS, Batch, DB2, IMS, VSAM, PDS, QSAM, PDSE/2, CATALOGS, SDSF, exits, SCLM, LCS, DUMPS, Abend analysis, utilities etc).
- You understand how the mainframe (z/OS) operates, its organization and configuration, how storage is organized (24/31/64), system libraries etc.
- You have mainframe software development experience using: JCL, REXX, C, HLASM, Java, PL/I.
- If you have experience as a mainframe systems programmer, then please describe your experience.
- As well as learning new skills, you are expected to coach and mentor others.
- You are prepared to be flexible so that your working day can overlap with other GEOs (with Perth, Australia in particular).
- You are prepared to give a demonstration of your skills at an interactive technical interview.

**Advantageous skills**:

- zVM, zOSMF, PL/X, SLD, Debug Tool.
- Familiarity with IBM File Manager for z/OS, IBM Fault Analyzer for z/OS, ADFz, IDz, z/OS Explorer, z/OS Open Editor or similar products.
- Jira, git, Jenkins, XML, JSON, VSCode, DB2/SQL, IMS/DB1, MQ, zD&T, ADCD, Zowe, Open Mainframe.
