Job Summary
The Student Counselor/Psychotherapist provides professional mental health support to students, helping them navigate emotional, psychological, and behavioral challenges. This role involves assessing student needs, developing and implementing therapeutic plans, and offering a safe and confidential environment for students to explore their issues. The Student Counselor/Psychotherapist works within the educational institution to promote mental wellness and personal growth, enabling students to succeed academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
- **Student Assessment**:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand students' mental health status, issues, and needs.
- Use diagnostic tools and interviews to evaluate psychological conditions and identify areas of concern.
- **Therapeutic Interventions**:
- Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each student's needs and therapeutic goals.
- Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based therapy, or other relevant modalities.
- Facilitate individual, group, or family therapy sessions as appropriate.
- Assist students in developing coping strategies and skills to manage stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues.
**Student Support**:
- Create a supportive, non-judgmental, and confidential environment for students.
- Offer crisis intervention and support during emergencies.
- Help students set and achieve personal, academic, and social goals related to their mental health and well-being.
- Provide education and resources about mental health issues and self-care strategies.
**Documentation and Reporting**:
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records, including session notes and treatment plans.
- Track student progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Prepare reports and summaries for case management and consultations as required.
**Collaboration**:
- Work with teachers, school administrators, parents, and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic care.
- Refer students to other specialists or services when necessary.
- Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and school-wide mental health initiatives.
**Professional Development**:
- Stay current with developments in the field of student mental health through continuous education and training.
- Adhere to ethical standards and guidelines set by professional bodies.
- Participate in supervision and peer support to enhance professional practice.
**Qualifications**:
- **Education**: Master’s degree or higher in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field.
- **Licensure**: Valid state licensure or certification as a counselor, psychotherapist, or equivalent.
**Experience**:
- Previous experience in a counseling or therapeutic role, preferably with adolescents or young adults.
- Experience working within educational settings is highly desirable.
**Skills**:
- Strong understanding of psychological theories and therapeutic techniques relevant to students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to build trust with students.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
