Plans computerized databases, including base definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and protection. Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools, such as base dictionaries. Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management. Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. Note: May be internal or external, client-focused, working in conjunction with Professional Services and outsourcing functions. May include company-wide, web-enabled solutions.

**Working at NTT**

The primary responsibility of the Database Administrator is to ensure the performance, integrity and security of databases and processes. Individuals in this position contribute to the design of both back-end organization of data and front-end accessibility for end-users.

Database Administrators work closely with Change Control, Release Management, Asset and Configuration Management and Capacity and Availability Management to establish the needs of users, monitoring user access and security. They assist in controlling access to databases environments through permissions and privileges.

**Key role and responsibilities**:

- Assist with refining the logical design of the database to enable the translation into a specific data model
- Assist with the mapping out of the conceptual design for a planned database
- Participate in the writing of database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata)
- Create, test and execute data management languages
- Monitor the performance and manage the parameters of the database to ensur the execution of speedy query responses
- Monitor production databases regularly or respond to any database issues by bringing down the database or taking the database offline
- Proactively support the development of database utilities and automated reporting.
- Set up data sharing and disk partitioning
- Enable front-end users to access data concurrently in a way or form that suits their particular needs
- Maintain data standards in accordance with business requirements, NTT policies and the data protection legislation
- Work in accordance with the security information requirements and procedures of the company.
- Perform installation, configuration and maintenance of database management systems and related software within the context of a database administration plan

**Knowledge, skills and attributes**
- More specifically, the activities will include database creation, configuring Standby/Data guard databases and RAC installation, migration and upgrade of oracle databases, database performance and tuning, implementation of backup/recovery scripts, RMAN, 24x7 support.
- Backup & Recovery procedures
- Knowledge/Expertise in supporting Oracle RAC
- Database performance tuning & monitoring tools
- Experience on High availability clustering
- Disaster-Recovery experience including Data guard Environment would be added advantage
- Basic Shell scripting
- ** Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) would be an advantage**

**Academic qualifications and certifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering, information technology or relevant field
- Relevant certification, such as MCSE DBA, oracles associate or equivalent
- Relevant ITIL certification required

**Experience required**:

- Proven experience of min.1 year working as a Database Administrator
- Demonstrated experience with database backup and recovery best practices
- Demonstrated experience running and creating health assessment reports
- Demonstrated experience working with suppliers to deliver solutions
- Demonstrated experience in Oracle Enterprise
- Demonstrated experience in Microsoft SQL Server
- Demonstrated experience managing databases
