Introduction
Software Technology team at Medtronic Engineering and Innovation Center is seeking qualified vendors to provide experienced contractors for medical image annotation and labeling services to support the development of AI and machine learning models for medical imaging. We require vendors who can deliver high-quality annotation of complex medical images such as CT, MRI, X-ray, and ultrasound, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and clinical relevance.
This is to invite vendors with proven expertise in medical image annotation and experience in working with radiologists and clinical experts to participate. The selected vendor will help us enhance our AI-driven solutions by providing annotated datasets for model development, testing, and optimization.

Use Case
We are actively engaged in developing AI solutions for diagnostic support and medical imaging analysis. To achieve this, we need annotated datasets from a variety of imaging modalities (CT, MRI, X-ray, ultrasound). The primary goal is to create high-quality, annotated medical datasets that are clinically relevant and suitable for training AI models.
Scope of Work
The vendor is expected to:
Lead the annotation of medical images based on clinical guidelines and project-specific requirements.
Validate and verify the quality and accuracy of annotations in collaboration with our team of clinical experts.
Ensure the annotations are suitable for AI model development and adhere to our standards of consistency and clinical accuracy.
Support quality assurance processes through regular audits and validations.
Work closely with data scientists, machine learning engineers, and clinicians to optimize annotation workflows.
Vendor Capabilities and Requirements

Required Capabilities
Expertise in Medical Imaging Annotation: Proven experience in medical image annotation, with demonstrated familiarity with DICOM, PACS, and other medical imaging systems.
Modalities Experience: Proficiency in annotating images from CT, MRI, X-ray, and ultrasound modalities.
Medical Annotation Tools: Proven experience in using annotation tools such as ITK-SNAP, Labelbox, V7 Labs, or similar platforms.
Team Leadership: Ability to lead and mentor a team of annotators, ensuring quality control and project adherence.
Clinical Collaboration: Experience working with clinical experts (e.g., radiologists) to validate the medical accuracy of the annotations.
Process Optimization: Ability to optimize annotation workflows by leveraging advanced technologies and providing innovative solutions for improving efficiency and accuracy.
Desired Capabilities
Medical Knowledge: Strong understanding of anatomy, pathology, and medical terminologies.
AI Model Collaboration: Experience working with AI and machine learning teams to ensure annotations align with the requirements for training AI models.
Sample Work and Case Studies Vendors are required to submit examples of prior work related to medical image annotation, particularly in the field of AI and machine learning development. Provide the following for each case study Project Overview: Brief description of the annotation project, the imaging modalities involved, and the objective.
Annotation Process: Detailed description of how the annotation was conducted, including tools and validation procedures.
