Core Responsibilities
- **Sample Processing**: Prepare soil and rock samples for testing by sieving, drying, or other preparatory methods.
- **Laboratory Testing**: Conduct a variety of geotechnical tests, such as:

- **Classification tests**: Determine soil properties like particle size distribution and density.
- **Strength tests**: Evaluate shear strength of soil, including consolidation, triaxial, and direct shear tests.
- **Data Management**: Record, log, and compile all testing and operational data in a clear and detailed manner for reporting and analysis.
- **Equipment Maintenance**: Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure its accuracy and proper functioning.
- **Safety and Quality**: Adhere to strict health, safety, and quality policies, and maintain clean work areas and equipment.
- **Reporting**: Prepare written and digital reports of findings and results for submission to project managers.
- **Teamwork**: Work collaboratively with project engineers, technicians, and clients to meet project deadlines and requirements.

Essential Skills and Qualifications
- **Technical Aptitude**: Ability to operate complex testing equipment and software, with knowledge of soil and rock mechanics.
- **Attention to Detail**: Meticulousness in performing tests, recording data, and preparing reports to ensure accuracy.
- **Communication**: Clear and effective communication skills for documenting findings and interacting with project teams.
- **Problem-Solving**: Ability to perform basic data analysis and interpretation to verify results.
- **Safety Consciousness**: Strong commitment to following safety protocols and procedures.
- **Education/Experience**: Often requires a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering or a related field, along with relevant experience in a geotechnical laboratory setting.
