About the Role

we are seeking a skilled **Database & Data Infrastructure Engineer** to manage and evolve our data layer technologies currently hosted on EC2 instances. This role is ideal for someone with strong PostgreSQL expertise and hands-on experience with data streaming, caching, and message queuing systems. As we transition to AWS managed services, you’ll play a key role in designing and executing migration strategies that ensure performance, reliability, and scalability.

What You’ll Do

**Database Management**
- Administer PostgreSQL databases on EC2
- Optimize performance, manage backups, and troubleshoot replication issues
- Monitor database health and implement alerting systems
- Plan and execute upgrades and migrations

**Data Layer Technologies**
- Configure and maintain PGBouncer for PostgreSQL connection pooling
- Set up and manage RabbitMQ for message queuing
- Implement Apache Kafka for data streaming
- Manage Redis for caching and session storage
- Work with TimescaleDB for time-series data

**AWS Migration & Cloud Integration**
- Lead migration efforts to AWS managed services (RDS, MSK, SQS, ElastiCache)
- Evaluate AWS offerings and ensure compatibility with current workloads
- Design strategies for seamless transitions with mínimal downtime
- Document processes and share best practices

**Monitoring & Maintenance**
- Set up monitoring and alerting for all data layer components
- Perform regular maintenance and updates
- Troubleshoot system performance and connectivity issues
- Maintain detailed documentation and runbooks

What You Bring

**Technical Skills**
- 3+ years of PostgreSQL database administration
- 2+ years of Linux system administration (EC2 experience preferred)
- 1+ years working with PGBouncer, Redis, RabbitMQ, or Kafka
- Familiarity with AWS services: EC2, VPC, IAM, RDS, MSK, SQS
- Scripting experience with Bash or Python
- Basic monitoring setup using CloudWatch or similar tools
- Version control with Git

**Key Competencies**
- Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
- Ability to configure and maintain data infrastructure on Linux
- Clear documentation and knowledge sharing
- Adaptability and eagerness to learn AWS managed services
