**We in the Insights Team **are responsible for SMS Categorization, Fraud detection and other Smart SMS features within the Truecaller app. The OTP & bank notifications, bill & travel reminder alerts are some examples of the Smart SMS features. The team has developed a patented offline text parser that powers all these features and the team is also exploring cutting edge technologies like LLM to enhance the Smart SMS features. The team’s mission is to become the World’s most loved and trusted SMS app which is aligned with Truecaller’s vision to make communication safe and efficient. Smart SMS is used by over 80M users every day. The responsibility of the Data scientist would be to help the team scale these features across different countries and languages while keeping all information private on the user’s device.

**As a Staff Data Scientist,** You will be responsible for combining your advanced data science skills with leadership abilities to guide the Data team in solving complex business problems and building data-driven solutions for our Truecaller customers. You will partner with leadership on long-term planning and development of the team at large. In this role, you will be pivotal in advancing our work with large language models and in-device models across diverse regions. Your expertise will enhance our natural language processing, machine learning, and predictive analytics capabilities.

**What you bring in**:

- Advanced degree in data science, computer science, statistics or similar
- 10-12 years experience with at least 8 years of experience in Data Science
- Proficient in establishing and scaling up processes
- Strong experience with A/B testing, multivariate testing, and other experimentation methodologies
- Strong experience in statistical analysis and Machine learning techniques, particularly those related to text classification and natural language processing (NLP).
- Experience in entity recognition and semantic search.
- Ability to maintain deployed models by monitoring their performance and retraining them as necessary to ensure they remain accurate and relevant.
- Experience in working with large language models.
- Understanding how to efficiently use and transform data at terabyte scale.
- Experience with BigQuery is a plus.
- Hands on experience with Python, SQL and Git

- Take a loosely defined business problem and break it into tractable data problems. For each data problem, clearly articulate the value of solving it, its impact, and its complexity.
- Lead and prioritize data science, collaborate with Product and Engineering to scope, design, and implement systems that solve complex business problems ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope.
- Provide strong leadership and mentorship to the Team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
- Design, develop, and implement advanced machine learning models, including large language and in-device models.
- Lead data science projects from ideation to deployment, ensuring alignment with business objectives and timelines.
- Manage and analyze large datasets collected from multiple countries, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
- Mentor junior data scientists in ways of working and problem solving, aiming to elevate the junior to a senior level. The staff data scientist should also share their relevant knowledge and experience with their team and the wider data science community in Truecaller.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies to drive innovation within the Data Team.
- You work collaboratively across systems and teams to solve user and business problems. You are expected to help define success and design and build the systems to achieve it.
- To work with the Product to decide on priorities and set direction, design solutions, and help the team implement them.

- Experience working with PySpark, Kubeflow & A
