Assistant Librarian

**Job description**
- The Assistant Librarian shall work under the supervision and guidance of the University Librarian of the University.
- He/ she will be responsible for the upkeep of the library and follow systems, procedures, and policies implemented by the University and participate in the development as needed.
- He/ she will also be responsible for providing various Library user services and assisting in running the library operations, organizing, and cataloging the collection, researching automation, and vendor options and studying their effectiveness, and providing reference services by utilizing conventional and electronic database resources.
- Participate in library marketing and outreach activities to boost the usage of library subscriptions.
- Work with a team of library professionals to implement best practices in the library.
- Assisting Deputy Librarian in data collection & statistics to measure the effectiveness of library services.

**Essential Education Qualification and Experience**:
1. Master’s Degree in Library Science/Information Science/Documentation Science/Computer Science/Information Technology with at least 60% marks or an equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed, and consistently good academic record.

2. Ph.D. Degree in Library Science/Information Science/Documentation Science/ Archives and Manuscript Keeping/ Computerization of library from prestigious reputed universities

3. Qualifying in the National level test conducted for the purpose by the UGC, or any other agency approved by UGC. Ph.D. / M.Phil. degree in Library Science/ Information Science/ Documentation/ Archives and manuscript-keeping is desirable.

4. 5+ years of experience as an Assistant Librarian/ College Librarian in reputed institutions.

5. Should have hands-on experience in Library Automation, Discovery Platforms, and Digitisations activities of the library & Information centers.

**Desirable**:
1. MTech/MSc/MCA Degree in Computer Science or Information Science will be given preference.

2. PG Diploma in Library Automation and Networking or PGDCA or equivalent; Knowledge of Computer Applications; Knowledge of Creation and Maintenance of Digital Repositories using OSS, preferably Islandora; Knowledge of Metadata Creation using International Standards; Knowledge of using innovative Lib 3.0 tools; Evidence of experience of the above-indicated jobs; Knowledge of various day to day activities in a special library.

3. 2 years of working experience in digital libraries and open-source software in a reputed university.

SPECIAL NOTE: Applicant should be comfortable working in Rotational Shifts (Early Morning/ Late Night) as per the requirements of the department.

**Salary**: ₹21,086.00 - ₹30,044.74 per month
