Anant National University, India’s first DesignX university, is dedicated to training students to devise solutions for global problems through creative thinking.

About (Department)

The School of Design at Anant National University houses the Design Disciplines of the University, namely Space design, Product Design, Interaction Design, Communication Design, Sustainable Fashion & Textiles, Moving Image and Transdisciplinary Design. Apart from these majors, the School also offers a choice of minors in allied fields a few examples being minors in Design for Health & Wellbeing, Furniture Design, Urban Design etc. The
programme educates designers about prevalent global problems and encourages them to propose path-breaking solutions. It facilitates personal development and allows students to explore practical design solutions through learning-by-doing modules.

Required Education Qualification and experience
- PhD degree (desirable), with first-class at Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in appropriate branch with experience of ten years in teaching, research and/ or industry at the level of Lecturer or equivalent grade, excluding the period spent on obtaining a research degree.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in teaching/ research/ industry.

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)

Teaching and Curriculum Development

- Design and deliver courses in product design, ranging from introductory to advanced levels.
- Develop curriculum that aligns with industry standards and trends, incorporating design thinking, prototyping, materials science, and digital design tools.

Student Guidance and Mentorship

***
- Mentor students in their academic and professional development, providing guidance on projects, portfolios, and career paths.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive learning environment where students can explore their creativity and develop their design skills.

Research and Scholarship

- Conduct research in areas related to product design, such as user-centered design, design innovation, sustainable design practices, and emerging technologies.
- Publish research findings in academic journals and present at conferences to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field.

Industry Engagement

- Establish and maintain partnerships with industry stakeholders, including design firms, manufacturers, and tech companies.
- Facilitate opportunities for students to engage in real-world projects, internships, and collaborations with industry professionals.

Administrative Duties

- Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and accreditation processes as required.
- Assist in program development, assessment, and continuous improvement efforts to ensure educational excellence.

Professional Development

- Stay updated with advancements in product design, technology, and pedagogy through continuous learning, workshops, and conferences.
- Pursue professional certifications or memberships in relevant associations to enhance credibility and expertise.

Key Skills
- Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software and other digital tools used in product design and development.
- Material Knowledge: Understanding of different materials and manufacturing processes relevant to product design, such as injection molding, 3D printing, and sustainable materials.
- Research Skills: Capability to conduct research in areas related to product design,including user research, market analysis, and design trends.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to effectively convey design concepts, provide constructive feedback to students, and collaborate with colleagues and industry partners.
