**Position Overview**: The University Professor is responsible for teaching, conducting research, mentoring students, and contributing to the academic community through various scholarly activities. Professors are expected to foster an environment conducive to learning, research, and professional development, ensuring the academic success of students and the advancement of the field.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Teaching**:
- Prepare and deliver lectures, seminars, and tutorials in undergraduate and graduate courses.
- Develop and update course materials, ensuring they are aligned with current research and industry trends.
- Assess and grade students' work, including exams, papers, and projects.
- Provide academic support to students through office hours, advising, and mentoring.
- **Research**:
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at academic conferences.
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary research projects.
- **Academic Leadership & Service**:
- Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and university committees.
- Mentor and supervise graduate students in research projects and theses.
- Serve as an academic advisor to students, providing guidance on course selection and career paths.
- Engage in community outreach and partnerships to advance the institution’s mission.
- **Professional Development**:
- Stay updated with developments in the academic field through continuous learning and networking.
- Attend workshops, seminars, and professional conferences.
- Collaborate with academic peers both within and outside the institution.
- **Administrative Duties**:
- Assist in student admissions, program reviews, and curriculum planning.
- Contribute to the academic administration, including participating in faculty recruitment, promotions, and evaluations.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and provide timely feedback.
**Qualifications**:
- **Education**:
- PhD or equivalent in [specific field]. A record of significant research and teaching experience is required.
- **Experience**:
- Previous experience teaching at the university level.
- Proven track record of academic publications and research contributions.
- Experience in supervising student research and mentoring junior faculty members.
