As a Flight Ticket Agent with IATA (International Air Transport Association) certification, you will be responsible for assisting customers in booking flights, providing information on travel options, and ensuring a seamless travel experience. Your role will involve utilizing your knowledge of airline ticketing systems, IATA regulations, and customer service skills to meet the needs of travelers and maximize sales.
**Responsibilities**:
- **Flight Booking**: Assist customers in booking domestic and international flights, including one-way, round-trip, and multi-leg itineraries. Utilize airline reservation systems (GDS) such as Amadeus, Sabre, or Travelport to check flight availability, compare fares, and make reservations.
- **Provide Information**: Offer expert advice and guidance to customers on flight options, fares, schedules, baggage allowances, visa requirements, and travel restrictions. Stay updated on airline policies, IATA regulations, and industry trends to provide accurate and timely information to travelers.
- **Process Payments**: Collect payment for flight tickets, ancillary services, and travel insurance, following established payment procedures and security protocols. Process credit card transactions, issue receipts, and reconcile financial transactions accurately.
- **Manage Reservations**: Maintain accurate records of flight reservations, including passenger information, ticket numbers, and payment details. Monitor reservation queues, follow up on pending bookings, and confirm ticket issuance to customers.
- **Coordinate with Airlines**: Liaise with airline representatives to secure seat assignments, special requests, and other accommodations for customers. Coordinate with airlines to resolve issues such as flight delays, cancellations, or overbooking situations in a timely manner.
- **Promote Sales**: Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell additional products and services, such as travel insurance, hotel accommodations, car rentals, and vacation packages. Promote special deals, discounts, and loyalty programs to maximize sales and revenue.
- **Compliance**: Ensure compliance with airline policies, IATA regulations, and legal requirements related to ticketing, pricing, and travel documentation. Adhere to industry standards for data protection, privacy, and security when handling customer information.
**Qualifications**:
- IATA certification (e.g., IATA/UFTAA Foundation, IATA Travel and Tourism Consultant) preferred.
- Previous experience as a flight ticket agent, travel consultant, or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in using airline reservation systems (GDS) such as Amadeus, Sabre, or Travelport.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse clientele.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of airline ticketing procedures, fare rules, and reservation processes.
- Familiarity with travel industry regulations, including IATA standards and codes of conduct.
- Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
