The prescription made by the doctor is checked by the pharmacy in charge.
- If an medicine order is incomplete, illegible, unclear the pharmacist will contact the Vendor to clarify or change the order.
- Physical contents of the package of medicines should be checked by the pharmacist to ensure that it is not damaged.
- Expiry date of drugs should be checked by you on regular intervals and disposed off the expiry drugs by the consent of the doctor.
- Knowledge about the usage, dosage and frequency of the medicines issued.
- Any queries by the patient regarding the medicine such as its safety, side effects, safety for use during pregnancy etc. should be patiently addressed.
- They should be instructed about using the medicines safely at home and to keep al medicines away from the reach of children.
- Patients shall be instructed about the importance of completing the drug course or the ill effect of stopping the course prematurely.
- They have to check prescriptions, along with the relevant patient information, are placed in paper bags and take to the front to be dispensed.
- Pharmacist should practice the labelling, documentation and frequency of administration of medicines to patients.
- Non-formulary drugs can be ordered at the request of a practitioner and will be filled when the order arrives.
- On receipt of banned/discontinued medications, from manufacturers / stockists / distributors / concerned with batch number, the same shall be retrieved from all locations in the hospital where such medicines are in stock and shall be returned to the stockiest, distributors concerned.
- Such retrieved medicines shall be quarantined in Pharmacy until the drug is packaged and returned as per manufacturer’s instructions.
- The Drug Recall Register shall be maintained in Pharmacy stores.
- There shall be medications destruction systems where all the expired / damaged / contaminated medications are destructed periodically.
**Education**:
- Diploma (preferred)
**Experience**:
- Basic computer: 1 year (preferred)
- total work: 1 year (preferred)
- Pharmacist: 1 year (preferred)
License/Certification:
- Registered Pharmacist (preferred)
