Customer Service:
Greet customers warmly and provide excellent customer service.

Engage with patrons in a friendly and professional manner.

Take drink orders and offer recommendations if asked.

Mixing and Serving Drinks:
Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks.

Follow recipes and guidelines for making cocktails.

Ensure drinks are properly garnished and presented.

Knowledge of Drinks:
Have a comprehensive understanding of different types of alcohol, beer, wine, and mixers.

Be knowledgeable about current and popular drink trends.

Checking Identification:
Verify the age of customers to ensure they are of legal drinking age.

Refuse service to individuals who are visibly intoxicated or underage.

Handling Cash and Payments:
Process customer payments, including cash and credit cards.

Provide accurate change and manage the cash register.

Maintaining Cleanliness:
Keep the bar area clean and organized.

Wash glassware and utensils regularly.

Dispose of waste properly.

Stocking and Inventory:
Monitor and manage bar inventory.

Replenish supplies, such as alcohol, mixers, garnishes, and ice.

Keep track of inventory levels and report shortages.

Handling Difficult Situations:
Manage and resolve customer complaints or conflicts professionally.

Know when to involve management or security in more serious situations.

Knowledge of Local Alcohol Laws:
Understand and adhere to local and state alcohol regulations.

Ensure responsible serving practices, such as not over-serving customers.

Teamwork:
Collaborate with other staff members, including servers, kitchen staff, and management.

Work as a team to provide a seamless customer experience.

Upselling and Promotions:
Promote special drinks, happy hours, and other promotions to increase sales.

Encourage customers to try new or featured beverages.

Maintaining a Pleasant Atmosphere:
Contribute to the overall ambiance of the establishment.

Ensure that the bar area is well-lit, clean, and inviting.

Bartenders need a combination of interpersonal skills, multitasking abilities, and knowledge of beverages to succeed in their roles. Additionally, a friendly and outgoing personality often contributes to creating a positive experience for customers.
