**Job Description: XML Specialist**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **XML Structuring**:

- Develop and maintain well-structured XML documents compliant with the JATS schema.
- Define and manage metadata, abstracts, authorship, figures, tables, and references in scholarly articles.
- **Customization and Validation**:

- Customize XML tags based on publisher-specific requirements.
- Validate XML documents using schema validation tools like RELAX NG, Schematron, or XSD to ensure compliance with JATS standards and data integrity.
- **Conversion of Formats**:

- Convert legacy content (e.g., PDF, Word, LaTeX) into JATS XML format while ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- **Automation and Scripting**:

- Use scripting languages like XSLT or similar tools to automate XML conversion, manipulation, and validation processes.
- **Metadata Management**:

- Ensure accurate tagging of metadata to support discovery, indexing, and citation of scholarly articles.
- Maintain compatibility with Crossref metadata submission standards.
- **Compliance and Standards Adherence**:

- Ensure all XML documents comply with relevant JATS versions (e.g., JATS 1.0, JATS 1.1) and maintain awareness of updates to the standard.
- **Tools and Technology**:

- Utilize Epsilon or similar text editing tools for efficient content processing.
- Leverage XML editing and validation tools to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- **Quality Assurance**:

- Conduct thorough checks to ensure XML files meet platform and publisher requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to XML formatting, metadata, or integration.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in JATS XML standards and e-literature.
- Strong knowledge of DTD standards, particularly for Crossref metadata submissions.
- Proficiency in Epsilon or similar text editing tools.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., XSLT) for automation.
- Familiarity with schema validation tools like RELAX NG, Schematron, or XSD.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in vendor management is a plus.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
