Quantity Surveyor

A **Quantity Estimator** in highway construction is responsible for calculating the materials, labor, and costs required for a highway project. Their role ensures accurate budgeting, cost control, and efficient resource allocation.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Quantity Takeoff**:

- Analyze construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Calculate quantities of materials such as asphalt, concrete, aggregates, steel, earthwork, and pavement layers.
- **Cost Estimation**:

- Determine material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Use cost databases and historical data to estimate project expenses.
- **BOQ (Bill of Quantities) Preparation**:

- Develop a detailed BOQ for procurement and bidding purposes.
- Classify items under appropriate categories (earthwork, pavement, bridges, etc.).
- **Rate Analysis**:

- Evaluate unit rates for various construction activities.
- Consider labor productivity, material wastage, and overheads.
- **Tendering & Bidding Support**:

- Assist in preparing bid documents and cost proposals.
- Coordinate with suppliers and contractors for quotations.
- **Site Coordination**:

- Work with site engineers to validate estimated vs. actual quantities.
- Adjust estimates based on field conditions and unforeseen variations.
- **Software Utilization**:

- Use tools like AutoCAD, MS Excel, Primavera, or specialized estimation software (Candy, CostX, Revit).

**Required Skills**:

- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in reading engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of construction materials and industry standards.
- Experience with estimation software and Excel formulas.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
