Position: IBDP/ IGCSE Lab Assistant

Experience**:1-3years **[Curriculum of experience from **IBDP, IGCSE** only]

Qualification**:Graduation** **in** **Science**

**Lab Assistant is expected to**:

- Liaise with Teachers to ensure that preparation for Practical work has been done as required by the teacher. This would include setting up the correct number of apparatus, checking that all the apparatus is clean, well maintained and safe.
- Be responsible for the proper storage and maintenance of equipment and the upkeep of the laboratories.
- Understand and implement the Health and Safety policies of the school and the department to ensure a safe working environment for students and teachers.
- Prepare photocopies of worksheets and maintain a master file of worksheets and practical worksheets.
- Prepare written instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all laboratory related work including preparation of standard reagents, solutions, materials and apparatus to facilitate speed and simplicity of lab work.
- Maintain stock register and do the annual stock check ensuring a record of any breakage, identify
- equipment that has to be serviced or written off.
- Liaise with the Head of Department to order equipment and consumables.
- Assist with the maintenance of department records related to laboratories and equipment.
- Maintain a written record of all discussions with teachers related to practical work or any other special activity including science fairs and workshops.
- Contribute towards the development of the department.

**Preferred Skills and Qualification**
- Min 10th or 12th qualified
- A critical thinker with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have strong understanding, knowledge and experience of IGCSE and IB DP curriculum.
