Duties & Responsibility
- Accurately dispense prescribed medications to inpatients and outpatients. Ensure proper labeling and packaging of medications.
- Maintain and manage pharmacy inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels and minimizing wastage.
- Monitor expiration dates and remove expired medications from circulation.
- Review medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and potential drug interactions.
- Provide medication counseling to patients and family members, explaining dosage instructions, potential side effects, proper usage and the importance of adherence. Address patients' questions and concerns regarding their medications.
- Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and therapists, to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Be prepared to provide medications and pharmaceutical support during medical emergencies and code situations.
- Ensure compliance with Indian pharmaceutical laws, regulations, and hospital policies. Maintain electronic or paper records of all medication-related transactions and interventions.
- Stay updated with the latest developments in pharmacology and healthcare by participating in continuing education programs.
