The role of an accountant in this construction firm will involve managing project-specific financials, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing financial insights to support project and organizational goals.
**Position Title**:
Accounts Assistant
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Financial Management**
Maintain and update accurate financial records, including general ledger, journal entries, and reconciliation of accounts.
Prepare and present financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Oversee project-specific accounts and ensure costs are accurately recorded and allocated.
Monitor financial performance of projects and company operations against budgets.
**Project-Based Accounting**
Track and allocate costs (labor, materials, and overheads) to specific construction projects.
**Taxation and Compliance**
Handle GST, TDS, income tax filings, and ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations.
Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and data.
Ensure compliance with labor laws, EPF, ESI, and other statutory obligations related to the construction industry.
**Vendor and Subcontractor Payments**
Process invoices from suppliers and subcontractors and ensure timely payments.
Reconcile vendor accounts and resolve discrepancies.
Monitor retention money, advances, and deductions as per contracts.
**Payroll Management**
Process payroll for employees and site workers, including statutory deductions (PF, ESI).
Maintain accurate records of labor costs and ensure proper allocation to respective projects.
Oversee payments to contract laborers based on attendance and work logs.
**Cash Flow and Fund Management**
Monitor and manage daily cash inflows and outflows to maintain sufficient liquidity.
Prepare cash flow forecasts and ensure funds are available for project needs.
Reconcile bank statements and handle fund transfers, loans, and guarantees.
**Client Billing and Receivables**
Prepare client invoices based on project milestones or percentage completion.
Track accounts receivables and follow up with clients for timely payments.
Verify bills in line with project progress and resolve any billing disputes.
**Asset and Inventory Management**
Maintain financial records of fixed assets, including equipment depreciation and valuation.
Monitor material inventory levels and account for procurement and consumption.
Perform periodic audits to ensure accuracy in stock records and asset tracking.
**Reporting and Analysis**
Provide management with financial insights and recommendations for decision-making.
Generate project-specific and company-wide financial reports.
Analyze cost trends and profitability for ongoing and completed projects.
**Key Skills and Competencies**:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices specific to the construction industry.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Busy, Tally, QuickBooks, or ERP systems).
Understanding of taxation laws (GST, TDS, etc.) and compliance requirements.
Excellent skills in budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting.
Ability to work with cross-functional teams, including project managers and engineers.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
**Qualifications and Experience**:
**Education**: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CA or equivalent certification preferred but not mandatory).
**Experience**: 3-5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the construction or real estate industry.
Familiarity with project-based accounting and labor compliance will be an added advantage.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Morning shift
- Weekend availability
