A data entry operator's job is to gather, enter, and maintain records by transferring information from paper to digital formats. They are also responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the data. Here are some of the responsibilities of a data entry operator:

- Prepare documents: Prepare, compile, and sort documents for data entry
- Transfer information: Transfer information from paper to digital formats using word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and other computer software
- Verify data: Verify and log the data input by ensuring its accuracy and completeness
- Manage filing systems: Manage and organize digital and physical filing systems
- Perform backups: Perform regular data backups to prevent data loss
- Generate reports: Generate and export data reports, spreadsheets, and documents as needed
- Perform clerical duties: Perform clerical duties such as filing, monitoring office supplies, scanning, and printing as needed

Data entry operators are essential in many industries, such as healthcare, finance, and manufacturing. They are fast typers who are skilled in 10-key typing and the use of computers. Some companies allow their operators to work from home, and many off-site operators are also authorized to work flexible hours.
