Their primary responsibilities involve preparing patients, operating specialized equipment, and ensuring the smooth execution of procedures.

**Roles and Responsibilities of a Cath Lab Technician in a Hospital 1. Patient Preparation & Care**
- Prepare patients for catheterization procedures (angioplasty, stent placement, pacemaker insertion, etc.).
- Explain procedures to patients and address concerns.
- Administer medications under the supervision of a physician.
- Monitor patient vitals before, during, and after the procedure.

**2. Equipment Handling & Operation**
- Operate and maintain diagnostic imaging equipment (e.g., fluoroscopy, X-ray machines, and intravascular ultrasound).
- Ensure all cath lab instruments and tools are sterilized and ready for use.
- Assist in setting up and handling catheters, guidewires, and contrast media.

**3. Assisting During Procedures**
- Assist the cardiologist in inserting catheters, balloons, and stents into blood vessels.
- Monitor the patient’s vital signs and heart rhythms during the procedure.
- Handle emergency situations such as cardiac arrest or complications.
- Help in obtaining and interpreting diagnostic images.

**4. Documentation & Record Keeping**
- Maintain accurate records of procedures, medications, and patient details.
- Ensure proper documentation of equipment usage and radiation exposure levels.
- Assist in preparing post-procedure reports.

**5. Post-Procedure Care**
- Help in patient recovery after procedures.
- Educate patients on post-procedure care and lifestyle changes.
- Assist in moving patients to recovery rooms or intensive care if needed.

**6. Safety & Compliance**
- Follow radiation safety protocols to protect patients and staff.
- Ensure all procedures adhere to hospital policies and regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the cath lab.
