**Job Summary**:
The Turner in the fabrication industry will be responsible for operating lathe machines to produce custom metal parts that are integral to the fabrication process. This role involves working with various metal materials, interpreting detailed fabrication drawings, and ensuring precision in the production of components used in larger fabrication assemblies such as structural frameworks, pipes, and machinery parts.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Set up and operate lathe machines to perform turning operations such as facing, threading, grooving, and boring for metal fabrication.
- Interpret complex fabrication blueprints and technical drawings to produce parts according to specified dimensions and tolerances.
- Collaborate with fabricators and welders to ensure metal components fit and function within larger fabricated assemblies.
- Perform quality checks on finished components using precision tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges).
- Maintain lathe machines and perform routine checks and repairs to avoid downtime.
- Ensure proper alignment, tooling, and speeds to accommodate various metal types (steel, stainless steel, aluminum, etc.).
- Follow production schedules and meet deadlines for component delivery within the overall fabrication process.
- Adhere to safety protocols in the workshop, particularly around heavy machinery and welding areas.
- Keep accurate records of machine maintenance and part production.

**Required Skills and Qualifications**:

- **Education**: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in machining or turning is highly preferred.
- **Experience**: 2-4 years of experience as a Turner in the fabrication industry or a similar role.
- **Technical Skills**:

- Proficiency in using both manual and CNC lathe machines for fabrication purposes.
- Knowledge of fabrication processes and the ability to work closely with welders and fabricators.
- Familiarity with different types of metals used in fabrication and their machining properties.
- Skilled in using measuring tools like micrometers, calipers, and gauges for precise measurements.
- **Other Skills**:

- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of metal components.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a fabrication team.
- Good time management and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

**Work Conditions**:

- **Hours**: Full-time, [9 Hours ]
- **Work Environment**: Industrial workshop with exposure to noise, heavy machinery, welding fumes, and other fabrication processes.
