Job description
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Ensure that all fire and safety equipment in an establishment are in good shape always
- In order to adhere to laws and policies, the Fire Safety Officer must remain up-to-date on all local and federal codes and regulations. They are also often responsible for acquiring necessary buildings permits, so they must remain knowledgeable of the permit procedures and requirements.
- Maintenance is an important part of the Fire Safety Officers job. He or she must maintain all fire safety equipment in the building, such as fire extinguishers and other fire-suppression equipment, replacing dysfunctional equipment when it cannot be fixed.
- They perform preventative work on buildings and equipment as well to reduce the need for maintenance and replacement.
- Conduct fire safety checks from time to time
- Carry out training and enlightenment of co-workers or employees as regards general fire safety rules and procedures
- Carrying Out Safety Inspections and Audits of Construction and Operational activities.
- Should have knowledge in Hazard Analysis and Risk management.
Qualification:
Recognized Degree/Diploma in any branch of Engineering/ BSc Physics or Chemistry with Diploma in Industrial Safety From Central Labour Institute Mumbai ,regional Labour Institute ( Faridabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Kanpur) or Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety from Supervisory Development Centre, Kalamassery or (B-Tech in Fire and Safety Engineering ) from CUSAT.
**Experience**:
Minimum 2 yrs For Engineering Degree holders and 5 years for Engineering Diploma, BSC Physics and Chemistry holders in Supervisory Capacity in a factory. Safety Officers must have the educational qualifications and experience and conditions mentioned in Rule 81F of the Kerala Factories Rule 1957.
