**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Transcribing Medical Dictations**:

- Accurately transcribe voice recordings dictated by doctors, surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare providers into written reports.
- Transcribe a variety of medical documents, including patient histories, physical examination reports, operative reports, discharge summaries, diagnostic reports, and progress notes.
- **Reviewing and Editing Transcriptions**:

- Edit and proofread documents for accuracy, grammar, punctuation, and clarity while maintaining medical terminology standards.
- Ensure all documents are consistent with hospital guidelines and legal requirements.
- **Managing Medical Records**:

- Upload and maintain transcribed reports in the hospital’s Electronic Health Records (EHR) system or physical records, ensuring proper categorization and organization.
- Ensure all transcriptions comply with HIPAA and other privacy and confidentiality standards.
- **Collaboration with Healthcare Providers**:

- Communicate with doctors and other healthcare professionals to clarify unclear dictations or to obtain additional information as needed.
- Assist healthcare providers with the proper formatting and documentation practices.
- **Maintaining Equipment and Software**:

- Operate transcription equipment and software, ensuring all tools are functioning properly and are up to date.
- Troubleshoot any equipment issues and report them to the IT department.
- **Quality Control and Compliance**:

- Conduct regular reviews of transcribed documents to ensure quality and compliance with legal and hospital standards.
- Stay up-to-date with medical terminology, technology, and best practices in transcription.
- **Confidentiality and Security**:

- Ensure the confidentiality of all patient information, in compliance with HIPAA regulations and hospital policies.
- Handle sensitive information responsibly and ensure accurate documentation and safeguarding of patient data.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- **Education**:

- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Associate's degree in medical transcription, health information management, or related field (preferred).
- **Experience**:

- Proven experience as a medical transcriptionist, ideally in a hospital or healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, procedures, and healthcare documentation standards.
- **Technical Skills**:

- Proficiency with transcription software, medical record systems, and general office software (e.g., MS Word).
- Strong typing skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- **Other Requirements**:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
