**Job Description Summary**: Radiological Safety Officer (RSO) is responsible for the overall management and implementation of Wipro GE HealthCare Radiation Safety Program. He/She shall discharge his duties as specified in various AERB guidelines and comply with GEHC Radiation Safety requirements.

**Roles and Responsibilities**

**AERB Requirements**:
Radiological safety officer will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the company's medical devices and processes meet AERB regulatory requirements, thus safeguarding patient safety, compliance to regulatory requirements and facilitating market access.

**EHS responsibilities**
- Element owner for EHS Element # 23- Radiation Protection. Implementation and drive the EHS element and various Radiation Safety initiatives being implemented by GEHC
- Responsible for annual Review and update of GEHC Radiation Safety Program.
- Strictly monitor Personal Radiation dose of all Radiation workers, monitor TLD distribution process and ensure Radiation Medical Surveillance program is driven with 100% compliance.
- Ensure on-time completion of Radiation Safety trainings as per AERB and GEHC requirements by Field engineers
- Send periodic communications related to Radiation Safety to all employees/field team in the organisation
- Periodic review of EHS inspections related to Radiation, conduct periodic site audits and advise the field team about improving Radiation Safety
- Review and provide inputs on Radiation safety in Management of change
- Respond to queries raised by AERB, field team, QA &RA team and others
- Investigate radiation dose limit exceedances and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Investigate lost/mishandled TLD cases raised by Field team and tack action.

**Technical and QARA responsibilities**
- Perform or demonstrate AERB QA test and NEMA test at customer sites which includes customer training, Radioactive isotope handling ( Dose preparation, dispensing, source preparation, phantom preparation, transport and positioning of sources and phantoms ) and reporting.
- Monitor, audit QA testing done by QA agencies and Review the QA reports submitted by QA agencies.
- Work with Regulatory Affairs on type approvals of New products.
- Prepare and participate in internal and external audits

**Key responsibilities include but not limited to**
- Perform duties and responsibilities as stipulated in Atomic Energy (Radiation Protection) Rules,2004 and other related regulatory documents
- Submit periodic reports to AERB in prescribed format on safety status of the radiation installations.
- Promptly report any radiation safety related unusual occurrence to AERB
- Be responsible for advising and assisting the employer and licensee on safety aspects aimed at ensuring that the provisions of AERB rules are complied with.
- Investigate potential exposure and overexposure cases and report to AERB, management and take corrective actions that are applicable for all Radiation workers and Radiation facilities.
- Advise on
- the necessary steps aimed at ensuring that the regulatory constraints and the terms and conditions of the licence are adhered to
- the safe storage and movement of radioactive material at GEHC owned radiation installations
- ensure that
- reports on all hazardous situations along with details of any immediate remedial actions taken are made available to the employer and licensee for reporting to the competent authority and a copy endorsed to the competent authority.
- quality assurance tests of structures, systems, components and sources, as applicable are conducted.
- monitoring instruments are calibrated periodically.
- assist the employer in
- instructing the workers on hazards of radiation and on suitable safety measures and work practices aimed at optimizing exposures to radiation sources; and
- the safe disposal of radioactive wastes
- developing suitable emergency response plans to deal with accidents and maintaining emergency preparedness.

**Desired Qualifications**:

- 5- 8 years of experience in RSO
- Nuclear Medicine Physicist, and Radiological Safety Officer (Nuclear Medicine)
- Master of Science or Equivalent with specialization in Nuclear Medicine
- Preferred Additional qualifications include
- Diploma in Medical Radiology Imaging Technology ( DMRIT ) or equivalent.
- AERB QADXE trained.
- Professional experience as RSO in Medical field
- Level 3 RSO certified
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Effective report, business correspondence and procedure writing skills
- Proven Leadership skills in managing customers, issues and projects.
