Database Architect

**About the Role**:
**Grade Level (for internal use)**: 12 Job Summary
- Design scalable, high-performance database solutions using SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
- Define database schema structures, indexing strategies, and partitioning techniques for optimal performance.
- Establish standards for database design, security, and performance tuning. Database Development & Integration
- Develop and maintain stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views for business logic.
- Ensure seamless integration between database systems and data pipelines. Performance Tuning & Optimization
- Analyze database performance metrics and implement indexing, caching, and partitioning strategies.
- Leverage tools like SQL Server Profiler, Oracle AWR, and AWS Performance Insights to monitor and improve performance. Data Security & Compliance
- Implement encryption, access controls, and auditing measures to secure data assets.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, or ISO standards.
- Collaborate with security teams to manage database vulnerabilities and risks. Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Develop comprehensive backup, recovery, and failover strategies for business continuity.
- Design high availability solutions using SQL Server Always On, Oracle Data Guard, or AWS Multi-AZ configurations. Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with stakeholders to gather business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Maintain detailed documentation for database designs, configurations, and performance benchmarks. Key Skills & Qualifications
- Expertise in database design, data modeling, and schema development.
- Strong experience with SQL Server, Oracle, and cloud database solutions like Amazon RDS or Azure SQL Database.
- Proficiency in database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
- Experience with data replication, partitioning, and sharding techniques.
- Proficiency in automation tools such as AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Preferred Certifications
- AWS Certified Database - Specialty
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- Oracle Certified Master (OCM)
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) Experience Required
- 14+ years of experience in database design, architecture, and administration.
- Proven experience in cloud database solutions and large-scale data management projects.
