**Job Description: Hospital Supervisor**

**Position**: Hospital Supervisor
**Reports to**: Medical Director / Hospital Administrator
**Location**: Dr. John Arthur Ortho Hospital, Chennai

**Job Summary**

The Hospital Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hospital to ensure smooth functioning, cleanliness, discipline, and quality patient service.
The role involves supervising housekeeping, nursing aides, front office, and maintenance staff, ensuring all departments meet hospital standards of hygiene, safety, and patient care.

**Key Responsibilities**

**1. Daily Operations**
- Supervise and monitor all hospital departments — reception, wards, OPD, pharmacy, physiotherapy, and housekeeping.
- Ensure staff are on duty, punctual, and properly dressed.
- Verify daily attendance and report absentees to administration.

**2. Cleanliness & Maintenance**
- Check that all hospital areas (wards, toilets, procedure rooms, and outside areas) are clean and disinfected.
- Supervise housekeeping staff and ensure completion of cleaning checklists.
- Coordinate with maintenance for repairs, water supply, power, and waste disposal.

**3. Patient Care Supervision**
- Ensure patients are attended promptly and courteously by staff.
- Monitor inpatient rooms for comfort, cleanliness, and safety.
- Handle basic patient or attendant complaints and report serious issues to the administrator.

**4. Staff Management**
- Allocate daily duties and monitor staff performance.
- Conduct rounds at least 3 times per day (morning, afternoon, evening).
- Train staff in hospital protocols and patient care etiquette.

**5. Records & Reporting**
- Maintain housekeeping and maintenance checklists, stock registers, and duty rosters.
- Report daily issues to the Medical Director or Administrator.
- Record incidents, patient complaints, and corrective actions.

**6. Safety & Compliance**
- Ensure infection control practices are followed by all staff.
- Supervise biomedical waste segregation and disposal.
- Ensure fire safety and emergency equipment are functional.

**Required Qualifications**
- Graduate in any discipline (preferably with healthcare or hospitality background).
- Minimum **2-3 years of experience** in hospital supervision or healthcare administration.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage staff and handle multiple responsibilities calmly and efficiently.

**Working Hours**
- Full-time, rotational or fixed shifts as per hospital policy.
- Must be available for emergency calls and inspections when required.
