Minimum Qualifications (General)

Educational Qualification:

- Bachelor’s Degree (Graduate) in any discipline from a recognized university.
- Preferably a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in English (B.A./M.A. in English) for specialization.
- For reputed institutes, M.A. in English or B.Ed. may be preferred.

SSC CGL Understanding:

- Strong conceptual understanding of English grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, error detection, sentence improvement, etc.
- Ideally, personal experience of clearing SSC CGL Tier 1 and Tier 2 English papers or a similar competitive exam (e.g., Banking, CDS, etc.) is a big advantage.

Skills Required
- Fluency in English & Hindi (to explain grammar and rules easily to Hindi-speaking students).
- Deep knowledge of the SSC CGL syllabus and exam pattern.
- Command over:

- Grammar rules
- Sentence correction
- Cloze tests
- Para jumbles
- Reading comprehension
- One-word substitutions
- Idioms & phrases
- Synonyms & antonyms
- Ability to simplify complex concepts for students.

Preferred Certifications (Optional but Valuable)
- CTET or TET (if aiming for government school teaching).
- TESOL/TEFL or English language training certifications (if focusing on advanced or international-level English teaching).
- UPSC/SSC coaching experience is highly valued.

Experience (for coaching centres)
- 1-3 years of teaching experience in competitive exam coaching is ideal.
- Demo class or mock class may be required.
- Previous results (how many students cleared SSC CGL) may be asked.

Soft Skills
- Good communication and presentation.
- Patience and motivational ability.
- Ability to manage classroom discipline and interaction.
- Willingness to update teaching materials regularly.

You don’t need government certification, but having these makes a difference:

- Strong track record (your own SSC CGL success or student results).
- Confidence to teach batches (offline/online).
- Good study material or ability to create it.
