**Job Summary**:
The **Surface Grinding Operator** will be responsible for precision grinding of mould components, inserts, and tool steel parts to specified dimensions and surface finishes. The role involves reading engineering drawings, setting up grinding machines, and maintaining tight tolerances critical for injection moulding tools.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Set up and operate surface grinding machines for manufacturing and rework of mould components.
- Interpret and understand detailed engineering drawings, measurements, and tolerances.
- Achieve required dimensional accuracy and surface finish (flatness, parallelism, and squareness) within specified limits.
- Select appropriate grinding wheels, balance them, and perform dressing as required.
- Handle hardened steel, tool steel, and other materials used in injection mould tooling.
- Inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, etc.).
- Maintain machine cleanliness and ensure preventive maintenance as per schedule.
- Collaborate with toolmakers, EDM operators, and CNC machinists for tool assembly and fitting.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain housekeeping in the grinding area.
- Record job details, inspection results, and production data in daily logs.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- **Education**: ITI / Diploma in Tool & Die Making, Machining, or Mechanical Engineering.
- **Experience**: 2-5 years of experience in precision surface grinding, preferably in tool room environments for injection moulding.
- Hands-on experience with manual surface grinders.
- Basic knowledge of tool steels (P20, H13, D2, etc.) and heat treatment effects.
- Familiarity with mould manufacturing processes (EDM, CNC milling, polishing, assembly) is an advantage.

**Skills & Competencies**:

- Strong attention to detail and precision.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Sound understanding of geometric tolerances and surface finish standards.
- Proficient with measurement tools and inspection techniques.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to quality and safety.
