We are looking to hire a Statistics & ML Scientist in our Digital R&D Team based in Bangalore:

The Modelling & Analytics team for Product, Process and Pack exploits leading edge modelling and simulation expertise to support products and brands across all Unilever’s business groups in Nutrition, Ice Cream, Beauty and Wellbeing, Personal Care and Home Care. The team creates modelling solutions for the scale up of manufacturing processes, packaging and functionally superior formulations to design sustainable, superior and scalable products and processes with increased speed to market and lower costs. The three key tasks of the team are (a) provide leading edge modelling solutions, (b) define and internalise long-term science related modelling solutions to the benefit of Unilever. (c) act to foster, train and enhance modelling skills and solution across R&D.

JOB PURPOSE

The work environment is interdisciplinary and highly networked through project activities with our business groups and our external network of research partners. The products and brands we support span all Unilever Business Groups: Home Care, Beauty & Wellbeing, Personal Care, Ice Cream and Nutrition. We are looking for a creative and dedicated data scientist who wants to help us to deliver in both our immediate and long-term ambitions. You will enjoy learning, combining methods and tackling new challenges as well as engaging with scientist partners to devise new ideas. You will have a passion to learn about our product technologies & in seeing your work contributing to our business.

**Responsibilities**:
Engage with Business Group partners to identify, shape and collect data to meet specific business needs. Our Business Groups have their own digital teams for co-ordination of activities and their bespoke needs and hence a key attribute of your role will be to build relationships with these teams to promote this new modelling approach.

End to end responsibility for modelling. This includes
- Refinement and exploitation of the exciting opportunities provided by the emergence of new techniques.
- However, this inevitably includes the tasks of data pre-processing activities, including cleaning, structuring & data transformation to ensure data quality for analytics & model building and driving best examples oneself and in support of partner groups.
- To present and prepare reports summarising insights and approaches to team members and project stakeholders, Data Scientists and non-Data Scientists.
- Support democratization of models using internal platforms as appropriate.
- Discover trends and insights through data e.g visualisation, selecting appropriate visuals to portray insights in a clear fashion to enable rapid business decision making.
- With a responsibility for ML this will include analysis of complex and large data sets using a diverse set of statistical and modelling techniques.

Initially you will grow your own skills, and be mentored, in one or more areas of statistical and machine learning against clearly defined business opportunities. As your skills grow and you become more proficient you will begin to lead the discussion on new analyses and model interpretation.

Help with assessment and co-ordination of external modelling activities - translate, steer, and support effective dissemination of outcomes and actions.

Promote the internal and external dissemination of results and ideas through reporting, publication, and spot IP opportunities.
