A Staff Nurse, also known as a General Duty Nurse, is responsible for providing direct patient care, including assessing, planning, and delivering care, as well as monitoring patient progress and providing emotional support. They also contribute to maintaining a clean and comfortable environment for patients and assist in various administrative tasks. Key Responsibilities:
- **Patient Care**:Staff nurses provide direct patient care, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and performing basic nursing procedures.
- **Patient Assessment**:They assess patients' needs, develop care plans, and monitor their progress.
- **Record Keeping**:Staff nurses maintain accurate patient records, including medical history, symptoms, and treatment plans.
- **Communication and Education**:They educate patients and their families about their medical conditions and treatment plans, and provide emotional support.
- **Teamwork**:They work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, therapists, and other nurses.
- **Hygiene and Environment**:They help maintain a clean and hygienic environment for patients.
- **Inventory and Equipment**:They may be responsible for inventory management and ensuring that medical equipment is properly maintained.
- **Emergency Situations**:They respond to emergencies and provide urgent care.
