Position Title: Western Music Teacher

Location: Rainbow International School, Brahmand, Thane, Maharashtra.

Reports To: Principal

Position Overview
Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Instruction:

- Provide Western music instruction to students of various ages and skill levels, focusing on music theory, history, and performance.
- Teach lessons in a variety of instruments (e.g., piano, guitar, voice, etc.) or general music classes as needed.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the curriculum and cater to diverse learning styles.
- Introduce students to different genres of Western music, including classical, jazz, rock, pop, and contemporary.
- Encourage student participation in music performances, ensembles, and competitions.
- Performance & Rehearsals:

- Organize and lead school concerts, recitals, and musical productions.
- Conduct rehearsals for school ensembles, choirs, or bands.
- Prepare students for performances and examinations, ensuring they are adequately supported in their progress.
- Assessment & Evaluation:

- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to help students grow in their musical abilities.
- Administer written and performance-based assessments to evaluate students' understanding of Western music.
- Maintain student records and communicate progress with parents or guardians.
- Curriculum Development:

- Collaborate with other music staff to develop and refine the music curriculum.
- Stay up to date with new developments in Western music, including emerging genres, teaching methods, and technological tools.
- Incorporate a variety of teaching methods, including digital resources, music software, and interactive learning tools.
- Classroom Management & Environment:

- Maintain an organized and creative classroom environment that promotes musical exploration.
- Manage student behavior in a way that fosters respect and enthusiasm for learning.
- Ensure proper care and maintenance of musical instruments and equipment.
- Professional Development & Collaboration:

- Participate in professional development opportunities to continually improve teaching practices.
- Collaborate with other staff members and departments to enhance the overall student experience.
- Engage with the school community, attending meetings and contributing to school events.
Qualifications
- Education:

- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Western Music, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience:

- At least [2-3] years of teaching experience in Western music (preferred).
- Proven experience in teaching various Western music genres and instruments.
- Experience in organizing musical performances, concerts, and extracurricular music activities.
- Skills & Competencies:

- Strong knowledge of Western music theory, history, and composition.
- Ability to teach and inspire students of different ages and skill levels.
- Proficiency in playing at least one or more Western musical instruments (e.g., piano, guitar, violin, voice, etc.).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and students.
- Familiarity with digital music tools, software, and educational technologies is a plus.
