**Role Description**

The Oracle Engineer will be working on DWS strategic Oracle Exadata build and migration to Oracle Exadata CC including solutioning and engineering the overall delivery into CoLo estates, in collaboration with Oracle Engineering lead, respective workstream leads, Cloud infrastructure architects and CISO. The focus of the role is to bring niche oracle Exadata, Oracle Exadata CC, Oracle Exadata DBaaS and non-Oracle Exadata infra expertise and support/execute against the DWS business and overall IT strategy by providing a secure, reliable, flexible, sustainable, and cost-efficient database environment leveraging modern cloud methodologies and tooling. **Your key responsibilities**

As you help us shape our new environment and ways of working, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

- Responsible for building/engineering, supporting and managing Oracle Exadata database and storage servers, performance tuning and administration.
- Working with Oracle to plan the ordering/arrival of Exadata Cloud at Customer and ZFS Storage Appliance (ZFS Storage set up the database backup solution) in each region/location
- Strong understanding of Exadata Scale-Out architecture and able to articulate and validate OLTP read, write and mixed workload throughput and IOPS.
- Designing Exadata CC DBaaS setup as per project guidelines.
- Leveraging your expertise on Oracle Database 19c/12c RAC, installation, database upgrade, patching and DB refresh activities.
- Performing DB restore/ recovery, RMAN, Cloning, DB query optimization and DB migration.
- Maintain a good working knowledge of Exadata infrastructure, Disaster recovery and future trends.
- Working with DWS Network team to plan the client and backup VLANs for each Data Centre.
- Working with DWS CISO team to plan the deployment of CyberArk Privileged Access Management and onboarding of all Oracle VMs and deployment of CyberArk Secrets Management as the cert/key/credential solution.
- Configuring Oracle/Linux Virtualization Manager allowing the creation of various VM Guests to run services such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, and other windows-based workloads, Working with HPE/reseller Professional services.
- Ability to write database queries and store procedure and able to automate recurring tasks.
- Work collaboratively with wider Information Security team, Incident response team, Application owners and ITSM team in resolving incidents pertaining to Oracle database and Exadata hardware.
- Contribute to documentation and best practices of Oracle database on Exadata hardware platform.
- Take part in post incident reviews and propose engineering resolution to improve results in any future recurrence.
- Oversee cloud infrastructure build and management of the estate by working with service partners.

**Your skills and experience**

You will have excellent Oracle database, engineering & Oracle infrastructure knowledge and experience at enterprise level along with a technically inquisitive and delivery focused mindset. The following is a list of technical areas you should have a deep understanding of along with examples of specific technologies where we would expect either demonstratable experience or an understanding of their function in a modern cloud environment.
- Proven experience of designing and supporting Oracle database engine (11g/12c/19c), data replication etc. as a DBA and/or Engineer.
- Hands-on expertise and industry experience in Oracle Exadata, Oracle Exadata CC, Oracle Exadata DBaaS, non-Oracle Exadata, Oracle RDMBS.
- Experience on ZFS Storage Appliance, Oracle/Linux Virtualization, CyberArk Privileged Access & Secrets Management
- Strong technical background on Cloud including networking, storage, security concepts
- Hands on experience with at-least 1 of the main cloud platforms - Google Cloud, Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
- Database security hardening experience per CISO requirements is desirable.
