1. Machine Setup: Prepare machines by installing and adjusting cutting tools, fixtures, and workpieces properly.

2. Programming: Create and edit CNC programs using computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software or manually inputting commands into the machine.

3. Tooling: Select appropriate cutting tools and ensure they are in good condition, replacing or sharpening them as necessary.

4. Workpiece Inspection: Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify the dimensions and quality of finished parts.

5. Machine Operation: Monitor and control machine operations during the production process to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

6. Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues or malfunctions that may occur during the machining process, such as tool wear, material feed problems, or machine errors.

7. Quality Control: Perform quality checks on completed parts to ensure they meet the required specifications and make adjustments as needed.

8. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production activities, including program changes, tool adjustments, and inspection results.

9. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations and best practices to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.

10. Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with engineers and production managers to optimize machining processes, improve efficiency, and reduce cycle times.

Requirements for a CNC Setter may vary depending on the industry and specific job requirements, but typically include:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience operating and setting up CNC machines
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of programming languages, such as G-code and M-code
- Strong understanding of machining principles and techniques
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain high levels of accuracy
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures
