An e-commerce packer for garments is responsible for picking, inspecting, folding, and packaging clothing orders for shipment to customers. The role ensures accuracy, presentation, and timely dispatch while managing inventory in the packing area.
- **Order Fulfillment**: Accurately pick items from inventory based on order invoices or picking lists.
- **Garment Preparation**: Inspect garments for damages or defects, and ensure they meet quality and presentation standards (e.g., folding neatly, tagging, ironing/steaming if required).
- **Packaging**: Select appropriate packaging materials (boxes, polybags, etc.), pack items securely to prevent damage during transit, and seal packages.
- **Inventory Management**: Assist with stock counting, receiving new inventory, organizing products in the warehouse, and updating stock levels in the system (often using basic computer software or scanners).
- **Shipping Coordination**: Prepare parcels for handover to courier or logistics partners and coordinate with the operations team to ensure timely dispatch.
- **Workplace Maintenance**: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe packing area, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- **Returns Handling (Optional)**: In some roles, the packer may also assist in processing customer returns and exchanges.
- **Attention to Detail**: Essential for ensuring order accuracy and product quality.
- **Physical Stamina**: Ability to stand for long periods, walk, lift, and move packages (within safety guidelines, e.g., up to 50 lbs).
- **Organizational Skills**: Capable of keeping products and the work area organized and managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- **Basic Computer Literacy**: Familiarity with computer systems or scanners for stock entry, order updates, and generating shipping documents.
- **Time Management**: Ability to work efficiently and meet daily order processing deadlines.
- **Teamwork**: Willingness to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
- **Experience**: Prior experience in e-commerce packing or a warehouse environment is a plus, but on-the-job training is often provided for entry-level positions.
