What will you do at Ciena?

**Responsibilities**:
- Implement cross-platform base and middleware software and services. This software will span multi-core embedded CPUs, SOCs, packet processors, L2/L3 switch ASICs, Ethernet PHYs, FPGAs, and optics.- Employ your expertise in the Linux Kernel, Docket containers, TCP/IP stack, Forwarding Tables, IP Filters, VLANs, and memory management to develop new networking products.- Work closely with advanced hardware devices including multi-core embedded CPUs, packet processors, FPGAs, L2/L3 switch ASICs and Gigabit/10 Gigabit Ethernet PHYs and optics.- Identifying software performance improvements through test driven development, automated unit testing, and comprehensive integration testing.- Engage with Product Owners and System Architects to evolve and invigorate the platform, such that it can continue to adopt and support new features and technologies.

Experience- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.- 8-15 years of experience in an embedded software design role.- Broad experience in multiple aspects of embedded Linux.- Knowledge of the physical design and architecture of embedded Linux systems.- General Broadcom Ethernet switching experience: Forwarding Tables, Filters, Ingress Field Processor, MAC, PHY, Autoneg.- Broad experience in multiple aspects of embedded Linux including docker containers- In-depth experience with the Linux kernel, device drivers, Universal I/O, Kernel Modules.- Practical experience with core dump analysis and profiling tools.- Software development expertise, particularly large-scale embedded software development in C/C++ and Object-oriented design.- Independent self-starter and committed to delivering on aggressive deadlines.- Comfortable in a team environment while still taking accountability and working independently as needed.
