1. **General Cleaning and Maintenance**:

- **Cleaning lab surfaces**: Wipe down countertops, tables, and other surfaces to remove dust, dirt, and chemical residues.
- **Floor cleaning**: Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors to ensure they are free of debris and clean.
- **Cleaning equipment**: Clean glassware, lab tools, and equipment (e.g., test tubes, beakers, microscopes) after use, ensuring they are free from contaminants.
- **Disinfecting**: Regularly disinfect high-touch surfaces like doorknobs, light switches, and lab benches to prevent the spread of germs and contaminants.

2. **Waste Management**:

- **Collecting waste**: Ensure proper disposal of various waste materials such as chemical waste, biological waste, and general garbage according to safety and environmental guidelines.
- **Labeling and sorting waste**: Separate hazardous waste from non-hazardous materials, labeling and storing them correctly.
- **Disposal of sharps**: Safely dispose of sharp objects (e.g., needles, glass shards) in designated sharps containers.
- **Managing recyclables**: Collect and separate recyclable materials as per the lab's recycling program.

3. **Safety Protocols**:

- **Ensuring safety standards**: Follow safety protocols to prevent contamination, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) like gloves, lab coats, and goggles.
- **Maintaining lab cleanliness**: Ensure that hazardous or toxic substances are cleaned up immediately and safely, especially in case of spills.
- **Monitoring hazardous materials**: Be aware of the risks posed by the chemicals or biological substances present in the lab and follow appropriate cleaning techniques to handle them safely.
- **Reporting unsafe conditions**: Notify lab supervisors about any safety hazards, damaged equipment, or unusual situations that may pose a risk.

4. **Inventory Support**:

- **Restocking supplies**: Keep track of cleaning supplies and order new materials (e.g., cleaning agents, gloves, disinfectants) as necessary.
- **Managing stock of PPE**: Ensure the availability of essential safety gear (e.g., gloves, face masks) and report shortages.

5. **Organization and Tidiness**:

- **Organizing equipment**: Ensure that all lab equipment and tools are neatly stored and easy to access, reducing clutter in workspaces.
- **Labeling items**: Make sure all items are properly labeled and organized for efficient use.

6. **Collaboration with Lab Staff**:

- **Cooperating with researchers and lab personnel**: Communicate effectively with lab workers to address cleaning needs or adjust schedules to minimize disruption to ongoing research.
- **Following special instructions**: Carry out specialized cleaning tasks as instructed, especially after certain experiments, such as biological or chemical testing.

7. **Record Keeping**:

- **Documentation**: Maintain cleaning schedules and records, noting when and where specific cleaning tasks are performed.
- **Incident reporting**: Document any accidents, spills, or issues encountered during cleaning, and inform supervisors.

8. **Specialized Cleaning Tasks (as needed)**:

- **Cleaning biosafety cabinets or fume hoods**: Clean and decontaminate specialized equipment as per protocols.
- **Cleaning after hazardous experiments**: Ensure proper cleanup following experiments involving chemicals, biohazards, or radioactive materials, adhering to lab-specific protocols.
