**SECURITY JOB DESCRIPTION**
- A security officer's job description can vary by employer, but some common responsibilities include**Protecting property:

- **Security officers are responsible for keeping the property, staff, and environment safe. They may patrol the property on foot, secure buildings, and ensure gates and fences are secure.
- **Monitoring surveillance:

- **Security officers may monitor closed-circuit TV cameras and alarms. They may also perform building and equipment inspections.
- **Controlling access:

- **Security officers may control who can enter and exit the building, and may direct heavy traffic during peak times. They may also perform security checks for specific areas.
- **Responding to emergencies:

- **Security officers may respond to emergencies, such as accidents, incidents, or safety issues. They may also detain violators.
- **Communicating:

- **Security officers may communicate with management about any irregularities or incidents. They may also communicate with local enforcement about incidents.
- **Maintaining records:

- **Security officers may complete daily reports that include relevant information, observations, and surveillance footage.
- **Educating:

- **Security officers may educate staff on proper security procedures and requirements.
- **Performing other tasks:

- **Security officers may perform first aid or CPR when needed. They may also test security systems and operate metal detectors or X-ray machines.

Security officers should be able to stay level headed and respond quickly in stressful situations. They may also need to meet certain qualifications, such as: Having a high school diploma or GED, Being at least 18 years old, Passing a background check, Completing a minimum number of training hours, and Having a valid security guard license.
