It doesn’t matter where we look there is not a department or process that will not benefit from using Analytics across the business. More importantly we can use analytics to make our customers happy by pro-actively predicting issues and also offering a great service.

This data architecture team is part of BT’s digital transformation and leading the change in how BT designs its data platforms. Data plays a key role in how we transform our estate from legacy hindsight-based intelligence on islands of data to a joined up intelligence based on fresh information - we will need to understand how enable the business for smarter decisions using intelligence available from our growing data assets.
- What you’ll be doing:
- Governance of Enterprise Data architecture blueprint across BT and Digital
- Establish standards, policies and procedures as needed to ensure consistency and compliance within a data and information governance framework.
- Working with data governance and privacy and legal teams to codify data management into an architectural blueprint
- Review and selection of technology roadmap for all data and analytics platforms
- Act as design authority reviewing and defining standards and guard rails for Customer Facing Units and Digital teams
- Deliver Data Fabric and Data Mesh strategy
- Supporting the Technical teams on Product selection
- Working with vendors to resolve immediate challenges and looking at tooling to enable data delivery and efficient data management
- Evolve intercloud and hybrid patterns for data at scale across BT
- Establishing DATAOPS best practices through architecting solutions that support this approach.
- Establish a community of interest in Data Mesh to increase education of analytics technologies (show and tell, hackathons)
- Responsible for the support and review of data architectures of delivery teams and service integrators.
- Establish standards, policies and procedures as needed to ensure consistency and compliance within a data governance framework.
- Clearly demonstrate understanding of the current and emerging technology landscape and how it can be used
- Mentor more junior team members and support their professional development.
- What you’ll need:
- Demonstrated > 18 months delivering data platforms or architecture on GCP or AWS
- Implemented Data Engineering, Operations and Governance best practices
- Experience of AWS or GCP analytics platforms > 18 months
- Experience of legacy migration of EDW to cloud based solutions
- Has had hands on experience of data science and modelling at a basic level
- Knowledge of Big Data and Cloud Data Platforms (Hadoop, GCP ,AWS)
- Experience of Service Design, Benefit Modelling, Agile (especially SAFe), CI, CD
- Experience of Data Engineering and Data Movement (ETL,ELT,CDC,Kafka)
- Clearly demonstrable Enterprise Architecture experience working at C Level
- Experience of implementing analytics model into production and the life cycle process
- Ability to communicate in both the business jargon and the technology jargon, and translate effectively between the two.
- Experience in producing risk assessments as part of a digital transformation.
- Experience in performing capability gap analysis.- You feel at home communicating with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
