About the Role

We are looking for a Genetic Counselor to join our growing healthcare team. In this role,

you will be the bridge between complex genetic science and patient care. You’ll help

individuals and families understand how genetics affects their health, guide them through

genetic testing decisions, and provide emotional support during challenging times.

This is a patient-facing role where your ability to explain complex medical information in

simple terms will make a real difference in people’s lives. You’ll work with diverse cases

including cancer genetics, prenatal screening, rare diseases, and preventive genetic health.

Your Typical Day
- Conduct 4-6 genetic counseling sessions (both online and in-clinic)
- Review patient medical history and create detailed family trees
- Explain what genetic tests can and cannot tell
- Help families understand test results and what they mean for their health
- Support patients in making informed decisions about their genetic health
- Coordinate with doctors to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Document sessions and maintain accurate patient records

Key Responsibilities

Patient Counseling (70%) - Provide pre-test and post-test genetic counseling - Assess

genetic risk based on family history - Explain inheritance patterns and recurrence risks
- Support patients dealing with genetic diagnoses - Handle sensitive conversations with

empathy

Clinical Coordination (20%) - Work with laboratories for test coordination - Collaborate

with physicians and specialists - Ensure smooth patient journey from referral to follow-up
- Maintain quality standards in counseling practice

Education & Development (10%) - Create simple patient education materials - Stay

updated with latest genetic discoveries - Participate in team learning sessions - Guide

junior team members when needed

What We Need

Must Have: - Masters in Genetic Counseling, Medical Genetics, or related field - Minimum 2

years hands-on genetic counseling experience - Strong communication skills in English and

Hindi - Ability to explain complex topics simply - Computer proficiency for virtual

consultations - Genuine empathy and patience with patients

Good to Have: - BGCI certification or international equivalent - Experience in cancer

genetics or prenatal counseling - Understanding of genetic variations in Indian populations
- Experience with telemedicine platforms - Knowledge of additional Indian languages
- Prior experience in diagnostic labs or hospitals
