Compositing Td

**Compositing TD**:
As the Compositing TD you will be supporting the studio’s 2D Compositing Department by working with the Department TDs and creative team to ensure shots can be delivered to the highest standard through effective workflows and pipeline.

You will report to Senior Pipeline TD/ VFX Supervisor.

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Participate in the development of Production Tools (Tech Check Tools, NN flow, Workflow), by working collaboratively and under the direction of the VFX Supervisor and Pipeline TDs. This will entail participation in the design, development and execution of new tools to better existing workflow and further automation.
- Provide Technical support for all workflow & productivity issues within the 2d team, further supporting the team through Technical Template Creation, Technical Support.
- You will support with tickets related to shots, where they are ticketed by Leads and on the approbation of the 2D supervisor. The first line of support for the ''shot work'' is provided by the leads.
- Maintain and support custom tools/templates/scripts, both creative and pipeline, for the 2d team under the direction of the department supervisor and the oversight of the VFX Supervisor.
- Work with the Compositing Supervisor and Lead Compositors to identify areas of innovation and automation.
- Provide regular feedback on the 2D pipeline process, providing ideas and recommendations on the methodology, and future/Present needs.
- Create tools documentation and develop Shotgun pages for the Compositing department (TC auto, paint list, Shotgun filters, Artist page )
- R&D should be only upon request.
- Partake in Pipeline meetings upon request and where time permits, to further understanding of pipeline developments and needs

**Shots**
- Lead the Clean Tag Process through the review of shots, and selection of plates that need to be cleaned
- Additional Plates brief optimization when bid are rejected (Providing solution to accommodate bids)
- Weekly Meeting with the Mumbai leads/management to discuss technical issues.
- Provide the lead compositors support by offering your advisory and consult relating to workflow, platform, questions related to client. supervisor notes and other related questions
- Platform Pipeline Support (this include: Sync’s, Valet, toolsets)
- Attend Dailies for the work related to Mumbai or context relevant only.
- Paint reviews 15-30 daily

***General Support**
- Act as the key person for the 2D Onboarding for Mumbai and supporting Montreal where required: giving new starters a welcome orientation that encompasses an overview of shows, pipeline and our platform
- Assist with the management of 2D tickets that are not not assigned to the comp TD by filtering through the tickets with the Netflix team. Personal ticket will need to be approved by the comp Supervisor.

**Measure of Success**
- Under the direction of the Senior Pipeline TD, supports in the improvement to the pipeline and existing workflows
- Becomes a trusted advisor to the team and act as a key point of contact, ensuring company processes, and guidelines are maintained
- Demonstrate leadership, embodying the company values and acting as a role model to the team
- Successfully integrated the feedback from supervisor and leads autonomously
- Balances technical and creative aspect of the job role
- Works autonomously and is able to manage shots independently
- Tasks are completed at the highest quality through the prioritization and allocation of dedicated time to the assigned deliverables within the parameters of the deadlines and expectations set by the line manager.
- With the support of the line manager, successfully manage one's own time; communicating to the team when their request cannot be met, and by setting realistic timeframes on the deliverables on such requests.
- Ability to communicate with internal and external parties clearly and succinctly, in both written and oral formats, to express ideas and explain complex concepts.

- Expert Knowledge of compositing programs: such as, Houdini, Maya, Nuke and Photoshop
- Strong abilities and knowledge on compositing and digital painting software: 3ds Max, After Effects, Arnold, V-Ray, Blackmagic Fusion, Houdini, Maya, Mental Ray, Nuke and RenderMan
- A solid understanding of composition, color theory, and image properties
- Strong understanding on the visual effects pipeline
- Extensive knowledge of Nuke
- Strong ability in the following languages: Languages: Python, C++, PySide/PyQt/Qt
