Sports Journalist

**Responsibility**

Sports journalists perform the following duties:

- Attending sporting events and providing real-time coverage or play-recorded reporting
- Performing verification and fact-checking stories and sources to ensure the information is accurate
- Working with deadlines and ensuring writers complete stories in time for print or release
- Interviewing sports personalities, coaches and athletes
- Networking and maintaining relationships with people who provide credible sources of information
- Reporting current game statistics, team structures, player injuries and other sports-related information
- Reviewing the work of sports writers to ensure they satisfy formatting guidelines and editorial styles and fit the magazine's requirements
- Presenting unbiased views by writing cover stories that provide in-depth information about a sporting event

**Creativity **Readers can watch the highlights to know what happened at a sporting event. They want to read about it in a way that excites and appeals to them. Readers want content pieces that generate curiosity and encourage debates. Creativity helps you create original content rather than copying the writing style of other successful journalists.

**Interviewing and research **Knowing which resources are trustworthy and how to search through the material can help journalists produce accurate and thorough work. Apart from helping you collect information from sources, interviews help journalists validate sources and provide diverse opinions. Asking effective questions helps journalists gather the material to produce a newsworthy story.

**Writing and editing**:Writing and editing are two valuable and essential skills in journalism. Successful journalists are well-versed in grammar, writing and punctuation. Employers prefer journalists who adhere to their client's specific formatting, structure and journalistic style.

Pay: ₹15,478.15 - ₹26,534.47 per month
