Fully remote contract, should be based in India or Europe
- $250-$400 per day
- 3 days per week, flexible
- 2-3 month contract starting February 2025 (last two weeks will be handover)

Climate Catalyst works to strengthen collaboration and mobilise new actors on pivotal climate challenges to build power and compel political leaders to act at the speed and scale needed to tackle the climate crisis. We do this by:

- Working behind the scenes with diverse stakeholders in Europe and Asia to identify critical climate issues where action to date has been limited and the potential for collaboration is high.
- Bringing together renowned experts and new entrants to share ideas, and design and deliver creative campaigns that secure decisive changes in national and regional policy to deliver sectoral tipping points and secure significant emissions reductions.
- Advising on strategy, offering grants and bringing creative communications, advocacy and business expertise to build power across the climate community and catalyse action.

To date, we’ve used this model successfully to mobilise the business community in support of the EU Nature Restoration Law, a world first piece of legislation for peatlands protection across Europe, and spark collective action in India that led to commitment from the Ministry of Steel to develop a green steel policy. Our vision is of a just, prosperous world in which global temperature rise is limited to 1.5°C.

**Background**:
Climate Catalyst is currently scoping a new programme to accelerate emissions reduction in the chemical sector, focusing on both Europe and India which are important geographies for our existing programmes. Globally, the chemicals sector emits approximately three billion tons of CO2 equivalent per year and uses 30% of all energy used by the industrial sector. We see this sector as one in which our model of working with a diverse range of partners to accelerate action could be impactful, and are keen to recruit an experienced consultant to work with a small internal group to ensure we have a strong analysis of the sector, and identify the best initial opportunities for our work on this sector, drawing on our value proposition and experience in other areas. Our ultimate objectives in each area are to reduce emissions by securing policy change and shifting financial flows.

**Responsibilities and Duties***:

- Work with the lead of our chemical programme group (our Director, India) to ensure we develop a coherent programme plan with strategies for accelerating action in the sector, informed by our value proposition and previous programmes.
- Work with our chemical sub group to to manage programme scoping, co-ordination of internal activities and outreach to external stakeholders
- Conduct secondary research to scope the chemicals sector and supply chains in India and Europe, mapping the policy landscape, producing stakeholder and system maps, and translating research into presentable papers and presentations.
- Reach out to a select group of external stakeholders, to discuss options for our future programme.

**Skills and Experience**:
‎

**Essential**
- Experience working on campaign strategy and design
- Expertise on climate change, energy transition and chemical or heavy industry decarbonisation, preferred.
- A strong global network of relevant civil society organisations working in these sectors.
- Experienced and comfortable with working across various regions and cultures.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Ability to produce clear, structured, concise memos and concept notes.

**Desirable**
- Experience of working on climate campaigns in Europe and Asia.
- Familiarity working remotely and comfort with remote working tools e.g., Asana, Slack, Hubspot
