Bim Technician

Role Summary

The Ground Engineering team has a requirement for a CAD/BIM Technician role to assist in creating and editing drawings in compliance with WSP in the Middle East (ME) CAD & BIM Standards. Drawings will include the production of geotechnical investigation plans, cross sections, foundation plans, underground construction, shoring and retaining walls. Further support will also be required to assist with GIS and similar database related tasks. A background in Civil or Structural Engineering environment would be an advantage.

**Responsibilities**:
Technical Skills
- Creation and editing of CAD/BIM drawings & sketches in compliance with WSP CAD/ BIM Standards and detailing practices.
- Generate sections and contour plans, foundation plans, site investigation plans, earthworks, shoring, and excavations.
- Proficiency in working with universal and local coordinate systems and elevation datum
- User-level in the use of GIS systems and databases. Desirable familiarity with related GIS software.
- Conversion of ACAD drawings to other formats such as DWF & PDF
- Use web based software to manage the uploading and downloading of document, submittals, drawings, models etc.
- Experience of working in 3D model environment such as BIM and Revit.
- Experience of using Civil 3D.
- Supporting design work with the guidance of Ground Engineering Team.
- Ensure QMS compliance with own work and supervise the QMS in other CAD works within Specialists.
- Ability to create viewpoints using Naviswork.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control checks on models and drawings.
- Complete design sketches for information in tender documents for small / routine work

Mandatory Skills
- Proficient in AutoCAD CAD and AutoCad Civil 3D.
- User Level experience in GIS and Revit (BIM) desirable.
- Strong English comprehension

Desired Skills
- Proven ability to work up drawings (plans, sections & details) from Engineers basic sketches in Microstation/CIVIL 3D / any other Cad software.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum of a Diploma in a relevant discipline drafting service with ACAD and Revit (BIM)
- Minimum of 4 years relevant work experience using AutoCAD/Civil3D and Revit (BIM)
- Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD software (version 2016 and above) Including X-Refs, Lisp, Blocks, Layers, Model Space & Paper Space, Scope Boxes, Creating Families, Viewports, Pen Setting files and all AutoCAD utilities
- Good working knowledge of the relevant discipline
- Experienced user of Microsoft Office and Bluebeam (pdf software)
- Familiar with working in a LAN environment Experience of working on a number of sized projects, as the sole CAD support and as part of a wider CAD team
- Good working knowledge of CAD and Revit, able to use al standard functions on the software and coach junior staff in its use
