This is a full-time position.

Reporting to Senior Editor, BEPL APAC, Springer imprint, Business, Economics & Politics

Acquires, commissions, and publishes high quality book content with the aim to become market leader within business, economics, and political science in the South Asia and Middle East market. Drives growth of own program and develops own portfolio as part of the strategically defined overall portfolio of Palgrave Macmillan. Oversees and manages the editorial processes within the team and implements strategies to deliver upon the departmental objectives. Works in collaboration with and reports to the Senior Editor, Business/Economics/Law (Springer imprint), based in Mumbai, to create, review and implement development strategies for the book program. Maintains relations with key South Asian and Middle Eastern publishing partners and boosts cooperation directly author/editors from leading South Asian and Middle Eastern academic institutions and think tanks.
- Develop and maintain a large network of authors from South Asia and the Middle East
- Deliver competitive and profitable products in line with the books strategy by assessing and developing publishing proposals for new products, new editions and possible new series on the basis of market feedback
- Meet goals set by editorial management such as contracts signed and manuscripts handed over to production
- Negotiate contract terms with authors
- Implement, optimise and maintain editorial processes for the department
- Coordinate with internal teams including production, finance, legal, sales & marketing, customer service to ensure a successful books program
- Review and develop publishing guidelines and ensure that publishing plans are implemented correctly
- Initiate and/or approve product title lists for booth presentations
- May in future include leadership and management possibility
- Business travel (domestic/international) as required
