**Customer Service**: Greeting customers, taking orders, and ensuring they have a pleasant experience. This includes answering questions about the menu and making recommendations.
- **Order Preparation**: Assisting in preparing and serving beverages like coffee, tea, and other drinks, as well as light meals or snacks, depending on the café's offerings.
- **Cleanliness and Organization**: Keeping the café clean and tidy. This involves cleaning tables, counters, and equipment, washing dishes, and ensuring that the dining and preparation areas meet health and safety standards.
- **Inventory Management**: Monitoring stock levels of ingredients, supplies, and equipment. A café steward may be responsible for notifying the manager when supplies need to be replenished.
- **Cash Handling**: Processing payments, whether by cash, credit card, or other means. This includes ensuring the cash register is balanced at the end of the shift.
- **Teamwork**: Collaborating with other staff members, such as baristas, cooks, and managers, to ensure smooth café operations.
- **Customer Feedback**: Listening to customer feedback, addressing concerns, and passing along suggestions to management.
