Assistant General Counsel

**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide legal support to key internal clients, across all lines of business, with respect to all aspects of litigation and errors and omissions claims, primarily in the United States and Asia-Pacific.
- Provide advice and counsel to senior business leaders with respect to errors and omissions and risk issues across all lines of business.
- Manage and resolve contentious claims against the Company.
- Seek to manage legal risk to the company in all errors and omissions claims and litigation-related issues.
- Monitor key legal developments in the US and relevant international jurisdictions.
- Assist in the development, management, and negotiation of key litigation-related templates, policies, and agreements.
- Review case files and documents in connection with litigation.
- Handle responses to third-party subpoenas.
- Work with cross functional teams to reduce risk and achieve other business objectives.
- Report to, and manage relationships with, professional indemnity insurers and senior management.
**The Requirements**
- Licensed and in good standing as an active member of the bar in at least one relevant jurisdiction.
- At least 7-10 years of experience in the conduct or management of litigation is strongly preferred.
- Experience advising clients in financial services and/or professional services is strongly preferred.
- Experience in one or more of the following categories of litigation is preferred: errors and omissions claims involving insurance brokers or other professionals; pension-related claims.
- A willingness and ability to work during most of the U.S. business day is required.
- Some familiarity with the U.S. legal system is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels to provide strategic legal advice and promote an effective and business focused compliance culture.
- Proven ability to handle competing, urgent matters and manage internal client expectations and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrate natural ease communicating with people at various levels of seniority within the organisation and based in different territories, including an ability to present to senior management in a clear and confident manner.
- To be proactive and to take responsibility for work.
- Highly organized, yet flexible, adaptable and a good team player with excellent people skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
