Role: Lead Structural & Civil systems

Grade: Engineering Manager

Purpose: Responsible for the support and execution of Structural & Civil designs for Utility scale solar projects.

Reporting To: VP Technology

Location: Chennai, India

Key Accountabilities

• Develop and design Structural & Civilsystem for solar PV and solar hybrid (Solar+ Storage) systems

• Review design of Structural & Civil plans, specifications, calculations.

• Review testing, commissioning and QA/QC documentation.

• Preparing project scope items, anticipating project issues and Resolve issues related to design and

engineering.

• Interacting with Utilities/Consultants to become familiar with specific local and industry codes to

interconnect PV solar plants to the national grids. (WECC, ERCOT, MISO, SERC, and PJM etc)

• Interacting with EPC contractors on under construction projects to answer questions, review

change requests, revise designs as needed to accommodate unanticipated field conditions, etc.

• Interacting with existing and prospective vendors of major equipment, such as Trackers, Inverter

skids, Battery container skid, Transformer etc. and evaluating different products.

• Provide pre-bid support, site visit and technical assistance with site survey..

• Experience on understanding simulation of different structure configurations to drive lowest

LCOE.

Specific Areas of Responsibilities

Engineering Support

• Preparation of Technical specifications & Vendor drawing review for Structural & Civil system

requirement of large solar PV power plants.

• Work through Technical Consultants to define Objectives and carry out detailed Studies where

required.

• Setup & contribute to internal D&E processes including all database and report management

activities.

• Coordinate with stake holders to meet required approvals and provide internal updates.

• Provide cross-functional coordination for design updates, field suggestions, specifications, for

service and or construction related items

• Provide technical solutions to general challenges during routine maintenance activities.

Bidding Support

• Provides technical support to Business Development team for quality due diligence on site

feasibility, equipment specifications, reviewing tender documents etc.

• Preparation of Technical architecture based on the tender documents; Review of Bid documents

like PPA , RFS etc.

• Provide technical Pre-bid queries; Propose various choices & their benchmarking for every Bid

• Work closely with PV designer to optimize overall design.

• Attending discussions with Client/Client's consultant/independent engineers for optimizing the

project cost.

• Support land selection process & completing Risk Review for Bid submission.

Skills

• Expertise in Techno-economic aspects of the Structural & Civil system

• Subject matter expert on structures such as Trackers.

• Knowledge of relevant Structural & Civil Codes and Standards

• Knowledge of Structural & Civil design in North America

• Knowledge & understanding of different Structural & Civil simulation software's.

• Demonstrated management skill and experience, Excellent analytical and organizational skills.

Desired Profile

Experience

• 10+ years of experience in Structural & Civil systems design with at least 3+ years in renewables.

• Experience in Project Management & Design Engineering.

• Hands on knowledge of various design software's like AutoCAD.

• Sound understanding of energy sector market and customers.

• Creative mindset, team player spirit.

• Excellent organizational and leadership skills.

• Outstanding communication abilities.

• Confident in producing and presenting work.

• Take responsibility and be able to deliver as per commitments.

• Expertise on Local country standards is essential.

Educational Qualification

• Civil/Mechanical Engineering graduate

• Post graduation will be added advantage.
