Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Experience with full-charge ownership / supervision of the accounts payable, payroll, share-based compensation, preparation of monthly journal entries (accruals) - demonstrated by a step-by-step close process for accounts payable / procurement and payroll.
- Minimum of 7 to 10 years' relevant operational accounting experience with a mixture of different industry experience (gaming experience is a plus, but not required).
- Minimum of 5 years working with external and / or internal auditors (knowing when to push back on auditors when needed, for instance - volume of audit samples).
- 5 to 7 years' experience as a manager within an Accounting function - with a mid-cap ($200 million to $500 million annual revenue), or larger company.
- Stability of employment relationships demonstrated by 1.5 to 2-years' at each employer.
- CPA preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of NetSuite or other comparable general ledger systems.
- Public accounting experience and / or knowledge of sales and use tax is a plus.
This role oversees all transactional accounting activities for our client in the areas of revenue, costs of revenue, accounts payable, procurement, payroll / wages, wage-related expenses / accruals and their related internal controls. Specific duties include:
Key competencies:
- (Accounting competency) → Must have accounting concepts proficiency. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in developing highly efficient accounting policies and SOPs and U.S. GAAP; including system implementations or conversions. Must have the mindset with ability to push back on other managers throughout a growing organization to implement and uphold internal controls.
- (Reporting competency) → Must have competency in preparing financial reports / analyses and working with internal / external auditors to resolve inquiries - understanding of financial statement positioning of accounting transactions (e.g. - knowing when to book prepaid expenses, accruals, income statement vs. balance sheet).
- (Technical competency) → Must have solid understanding of the accounts payable, payroll, share-based compensation, procurement and revenue-cycle processes along with their impact on financial statements. Must have the confidence to question the integrity and purpose of accounting transactions, and understand the consequences of non-compliance with Company policy (e.g. sign-offs / delegations of authority, support documentation, business necessity, pricing reasonableness).
- (Systems competency) → Systems proficiency with NetSuite or a comparable software package. Demonstrated knowledge in taking a manual accounting process and automating it (for instance, travel expenses, procure-to-pay) up through integration with the general ledger. Test of knowledge includes a high-level walkthrough for a process automation the candidate has either led or heavily participated in.
- (Management competency) → Must posses the proficiency, expertise, and capabilities to skillfully lead and guide the team to success.
- (Transformation competency) → Must possess a wide-ranging perspective, consistently identifying and analyzing both external and internal trends that could impact the business. Must be able to adapt swiftly to changes while ensuring the overall direction of the plan remains intact and maintain a clear focus on the project's core objectives and desired results, ensuring that all efforts contribute to these goals.
