Pow-dr Technologies | Data Scientist

About the Position
Pow-dr Technologies is seeking a Data Scientist to contribute to market analysis, cost-effectiveness evaluation, and algorithm development for its B2B technology platform aimed at promoting energy efficiency.
This position is ideal for someone passionate about leveraging data analysis to drive innovative technology solutions for climate change mitigation.
The successful candidate will work closely with powdr's Scientific Advisor and Impact Lead (Ralf Martin and Greer Gosnell) and will be directly supervised by the CEO (Zeynep Gurguc).
This is a full-time, fully remote, one-year fellowship supported by the JPAL India Climate and Health Data Capacity Accelerator, open to Indian citizens or residents with valid work authorization. Pow-dr is open to hiring the candidate beyond the one-year fellowship, subject to performance in the role.
The tentative ideal start date for this position is February 2025 (or as soon as possible).

Key Responsibilities
As a Data Scientist, your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting market sizing and pricing model analysis.
- Collaborating with partners to assess potential utility and social savings from deploying Pow-dr functionality in specific contexts.
- Contributing to cost-effectiveness analysis by evaluating inputs for uncertainty and sensitivity, analyzing key parameters, and providing detailed, transparent reasoning for input ranges and distributions based on data and literature.
- Developing algorithms to optimize the timing of powdown events, including identifying data sources to support the development of switch-off algorithms.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Pow-dr Leadership team.

Required Skills and Competencies
- Technical Skills
- Familiarity in data cleaning, transformation, and preprocessing methods, including cross-sectoral data linkage and manipulation techniques.
- Strong skills in R and/or Python.
- Strong intuition and understanding of data visualization and presentation.
- Ability to work with large datasets and perform data mining or data exploration.
- Understanding of statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and machine learning algorithms.

- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex data sets to derive insights.
- Capacity to identify patterns, trends, and correlations in data and translate them into actionable recommendations.
